Position #1

Axiom Engineers, Inc., a consulting engineering firm headquartered in Monterey, CA, is seeking experienced commissioning engineers motivated towards growth and advancement to certified Commissioning Agent (CxA) for its Monterey office.

Description: This is an experienced position involving the application of mechanical engineering fundamentals of commercial building design to the commissioning process. Typical commercial buildings may include office buildings, schools and universities, healthcare, residential, and hospitality buildings. Mechanical designed tested during the commissioning process may include HVAC, plumbing, process piping systems, fire protection, environmental compliance, and electrical systems. Specific duties and responsibilities include:

• Prepares prefunctional checklists, functional tests, project reports.
• Compiles necessary forms, data and information from available project sources: Drawings, submittals, specifications, installed equipment and systems and organizes into project required documentation.
• Prepares project documentation and reports from available information in efficient and timely fashion, obtains review of cognizant CxA, submits to Client for review and approval.
• Maintains detail daily log of commissioning activities for daily reports submitted by Project Manager.
• Maintains project status spreadsheets (trackers) and commissioning look ahead schedule.
• Participates in onsite readiness checks, verifying equipment and/or systems are complete and ready for commissioning.
• Observes on site testing conducted by others. Verifies and documents that all tests are completed successfully.
Experience and Skills Required:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and two years of design or construction experience or Associate’s Degree and five years mechanical and electrical design or construction experience.
• Computer skills - Must have a strong level of expertise in MS Windows, MS Excel, and MS Word.
• Mathematical skills - Ability to perform complex mathematical functions, engineering calculations and apply concepts to practical situations.
• Language and communication skills – Must have ability to construct well-written documents and reports, present information to co-workers, contractor personnel, and clients, respond to inquiries verbally and in writing.

Axiom Engineers, Inc., a consulting engineering firm headquartered in Monterey, CA, is seeking experienced consulting engineers motivated towards growth and advancement for its Monterey, Napa, and Santa Cruz offices.

Description: This is an experienced position involving the application of engineering fundamentals to the design of commercial buildings such as commercial office buildings, schools and universities, healthcare, residential, and hospitality buildings. Disciplines include HVAC, plumbing, site utilities, process piping systems, fire protection, commissioning, environmental compliance, and other engineering services. Specific duties and responsibilities include:
• Facility Programming and Layout: Design concepts from schematic design into design development, research design options.
• Prepare construction drawings and specifications, coordinate with AE design team and client throughout design and construction.
• Compliance with applicable building codes, research non-routine code issues, obtain interpretations from code officials.
• Construction support services with on-site visits.
• Mentoring and supervision of less experienced engineering staff
Experience and Skills Required:
• Outstanding technical skills and communication ability.
• Working knowledge of California Energy Code and Title 24.
• Working knowledge of energy software such as Energy Pro.
• Ability to work efficiently and effectively with multiple projects and priorities.
• Ability to mentor and train less experienced staff and ability to work constructively with senior experienced staff with diverse backgrounds and skills.
• Client interaction experience.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Computer skills - Must have a strong level of expertise in MS Windows, MS Excel, and MS Word. Working knowledge of AutoCAD and REVIT preferred.
• Mathematical skills - Ability to perform complex mathematical functions, engineering calculations and apply concepts to practical situations.
• Language and communication skills – Must have ability to construct well-written documents and reports, present information to co-workers, contractor personnel, and clients, respond to inquiries verbally and in writing.
• 2-5 years’ experience in consulting mechanical engineering.
• BSME or BSCE, California PE license preferred

Description: This is an experienced position involving the application of engineering fundamentals to the design of commercial buildings such as commercial office buildings, schools and universities, healthcare, residential, and hospitality buildings. Disciplines include HVAC, plumbing, site utilities, process piping systems, fire protection, commissioning, environmental compliance, and other engineering services. Specific duties and responsibilities include:
• Client contact and project/service offering development of Scope of Work based on interviews with clients.
• Facility Programming and Layout: Design concepts from schematic design into design development, research design options.
• Prepare construction drawings and specifications, coordinate with AE design team and client throughout design and construction.
• Compliance with applicable building codes, research non-routine code issues, obtain interpretations from code officials.
• Project Management and administration including delegation to and overseeing work of discipline engineers, process and equipment selections, coordination of drawing production and review, quality control, construction phase services.
• Construction support services with on-site visits.
• Mentoring and supervision of less experienced engineering staff.
Experience and Skills Required:
• Outstanding technical skills and communication ability.
• Working knowledge of California Energy Code and Title 24.
• Ability to work efficiently and effectively with multiple projects and priorities.
• Ability to mentor and train less experienced staff and ability to work constructively with senior experienced staff with diverse backgrounds and skills.
