SPCA of Monterey County

The SPCA of Monterey County began this project with the goal of upgrading their 40-year-old facility to one that provided state of the art veterinary care and the most favorable environment for the animals to be adopted. This project was more than six years from initial concept to completion of construction, and included the construction or renovation of ten buildings including:

• Wildlife Care Building with outdoor pools capable of maintaining 80°F for rehabilitated waterfowl
• Horse Barn
• Caretaker Cottage
• Renovated Shelter Administration Building
• Renovated Veterinary Clinic
• Adoption Pavilion with Cat Building, Dog Building, Dog Run Building and Kennel

The animal areas were served by 100% outdoor systems, supplying 14-20 air changes per hour. Dog kennels have radiant heat. Cat building has outdoor areas for the colony.
