Axiom Engineers: Commissioning

ARAGON HIGH SCHOOL THEATER, SAN MATEO, CA

Aragon High School’s new theater building provides seating for 650 attendees on the main floor and in the balcony, includes a large scene shop, catwalks and a technical grid, and an automated scenery change system.

By taking advantage of the site’s topography, we were able to create an underfloor air plenum at the orchestra level, allowing the project to use displacement ventilation to condition the seating area. This low velocity supply air system, coupled with the very quiet custom air handling units achieved NC-20 in the performance space.

This building uses chilled water and heating hot water from the campus loop. The building’s DDC controls have been tied into the campus energy management system.
